BANGOR – Edith D. (Crockett) Tesseo, 72, died peacefully June 5, 2011, at a local health care facility in Bangor after a long illness. She was born April 21, 1939, in Ellsworth, the third of eight children born to Marvin and Julia (Sargent) Crockett.

She was married to Donald E. Tesseo for 39 years until his death in 1998. They lived in Hampden and later Carmel for many years. Edith and Don were foster parents, touching the lives of many young children in their time of need. Edith and Don were well known in the antique community, also spending several summers at the flea market in Searsport. After her husband’s death, she opened the shop Simply Stuff, Corinna and later moved the business to Newport. Edith loved children and libraries, particularly story time. You could always find Edith at yard sales and flea markets. Springtime started a new year of birding and enjoying the fresh new colors of plants and trees.

She is survived by her sisters, Harriet Arbo and husband, Warren, of Eddington, Ruth Mishio of Hermon, Carolyn Weber of Brewer, Deborah Reid and husband, Michael, of Old Town; two stepchildren, Scott Tesseo of Florida, and Terry Tesseo and wife, Louise; children, Katie and Wyllie of Rangeley; close friends, Annie of Eddington, and Elaine and Emily of Bangor; and her very special friend and companion, Buddy. Edith’s nieces and nephews will sadly miss her, as well as friends, bird watchers, flea market aficionados, antique dealers, and buyers and sellers of stuff. Edith was predeceased by her parents, husband; a brother, Marvin; sisters, Judy Goodman and Peggy Nix; and brothers-in-law, Gordon Mishio, Gilbert Nix and Gil Weber.

A remembrance service will be held at a later date at Union Congregational Church, Carmel. In lieu of flowers and cards, donations may be sent to Bangor Humane Society.
