MEDWAY – Dale Marie Naaykens, 64, passed away Friday, June 10, 2011, at a Millinocket hospital. She was born Feb. 18, 1947, in Millinocket, the daughter of Cecil and Clara (Grondin) Richards.
Dale was a graduate of Schenck High School, Class of 1965. She worked at Katahdin Nursing Home as a certified nurse’s aide for 14 years. Dale’s most favorite things to do in the world were to go camping and spending time with her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. On July 10, 1965, Dale married James Naaykens, and together they have shared 45 years of marriage, and raised three wonderful children, Cindy Naaykens and her partner, Jeffrey Beisaw, Wendy Wood and James Naaykens Jr. In addition to her children, Dale is survived by 11 grandchildren, Julie and Heather Moody, Tia and Kyle Fickett, Gayle Wood, Alysia Berube, Edward, Nichole, Michael and Jennifer Naaykens and James Morrison; eight great-grandchildren; her brothers, Donald Richards of New Hampshire and John Richards of Mattawamkeag; sister, Doris Coon of East Millinocket; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Dale was predeceased by sisters, Jeannette Erickson, Priscilla Hartsgrove and Evelyn “Tootie” Markie; and brothers, Harold Richards and Austin “Spike” Richards.
Friends are invited to visit with the family 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, June 13, at Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, at Christ the Divine Mercy Parish, St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 58 Cedar St., East Millinocket, with the Rev.
