LINCOLN – Theodore M. “Ted” Sturgeon, 80, husband of the late Vernice (Batleno) Sturgeon, passed away June 10, 2011, at a Lincoln hospital. He was born Feb. 19, 1931, in Bangor, the son of Edison and Una (Cary) Sturgeon.
Ted lived his life in Lincoln. He graduated from Mattanawcook Academy in 1949, attended Ricker College and the University of Maine. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He worked for 35 years at Lincoln Pulp & Paper. He was a member of the Congregational church, a past member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and Lincoln Jaycees. He was a devoted hunter, fisherman, cribbage player and loved nature.
In addition to his wife and his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Alyce Jordan and Brenda Gagnon. He is survived by three sons, Andrew and wife, Karen, of Bangor, Thomas and wife, Diane, of Bowdoinham and Mitchell and wife, Kimberly, of Scarborough; four grandsons, Drew, Mark, Bradley and Zachary; four granddaughters, Kaitlin, Amy, Elizabeth and Erin; a great-granddaughter, Cadence; two brothers-in-law, Richard Jordan of Leesburg, Fla., and Richard Gagnon of New York; and a sister-in-law, Vivian Soldaini of Santa Barbara, Calif.
Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Monday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Darrell Joiner officiating.
