NEWPORT – Delores E. Badejo, 61, loved the Lord and has gone home to be with her Savior, July 10, 2011, at her Newport home. She was born Feb. 5, 1950, in Princeton, the daughter of Elwin C. and Gladys C. (Corbett) Preble.
She was a graduate of Newport High School. Delores worked in food service at the Dorothea Dix hospital, Bangor, for many years, retiring due to ill health. Delores was a member of Newport Church of God, where she was very active in the organization of Samaritan Purse Christmas Shoe Box, a project to make up shoe boxes with gifts and things for children overseas at Christmas. She also was instrumental in the organization of a monthly food collection at church that was then donated to Newport Community Food Bank to help people in need. Delores’s family was very important to her and she loved them all.
She is survived by her son, Terry L. Badejo and his companion, Jessica, of Plymouth; two brothers and their wives, Marvin and Diana Preble of Lamoine, Terrance and Donna Preble of Pittsfield; one sister, Maria Preble and her significant other, Pamela McCue, of Hudson; three grandchildren, Arianna, Isaac and Joshua; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Delores was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Alfred; a brother, “Beanie;” and a sister, “Betty.” Special thanks to her “Forever Friend,” Belinda.
Friends may call 5-6 p.m. Thursday, July 14, at Newport Church of God, 257 Camp Benson Road, Newport, where funeral services will be at 6 p.m. at the church. Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 15, in the family lot at Highland Cemetery, Carmel. Friends who wish may make memorial donations to Samaritan Purse Christmas Shoe Box Fund at Newport Church of God. Donations may be left at the church or sent to Newport Church of God, 257 Camp Benson Road, Newport, ME 04953.
