FORT KENT – Gilbert Lozier, 80, died peacefully Oct. 2, 2011, surrounded by his family at his residence. He was born Sept. 12, 1931, in Daigle, the son of Joseph and Melisse (Albert) Lozier.

Gilbert served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Lozier O’Grady Post No. 9609, American Legion Martin-Klein Post No. 0113 and Knights of Columbus Assembly 0352, all of Fort Kent. He enjoyed motorcycling and driving truck until fully retiring in 2010.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Jacqueline (Tardif) Lozier; his daughter, Louise and her husband, Garry Bouchard, and their five children: twins Ashley and Anna, Angel, Autumn and Garrick Bouchard; brother-in-law, Leonard Pelletier; sister-in-law, Lorraine Lozier, all of Fort Kent; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Gilbert was predeceased by two sisters, Lucille Pelletier and infant sister, Pricilla Lozier; and one brother, Wilfred Lozier.

Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday and 8-9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Daigle Funeral Home, 14 East Main St., Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. Committal services with full military honors will be after at Holy Family Cemetery, Daigle. Those who wish may donate in his memory to Visiting Nurses of Aroostook, P.O. Box 688, Caribou, ME 04736.
