ST. DAVID – Florence G. (Cyr) Roy, 70, passed Oct. 5, 2011, while surrounded by her loving family in Bangor. She has gone to be with her Lord and Savior after a long illness. She was born Dec. 7, 1940, in Madawaska, daughter of the late Henry V.O. and Lena (Ouellette) Cyr.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 50 years, Joel Roy; a daughter, Brenda Roy-Hill and her husband, George, of Connecticut; three grandsons, Shawn Strucks, Daniel Hill and Jonathan Hill of Connecticut; a special great-granddaughter, Orianna Strucks; also Irene and Leo Charette, whom she considered as a daughter and son-in-law. She leaves behind brothers, Edwin of Deltona, Fla., Emile of Manchester, Conn., Raymond of St. David and Delmer Cyr of Bristol, Conn.; sisters, Annette Sirois of New Britain, Conn., Jeannette Bouchard of Grand Isle, Rosemarie Beaulieu of Terryville, Conn., Verna Bouchard and Diane Bouchard, both of Bristol, Conn.; along with several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her infant brother, Joseph; and four sisters, Bernadette Cyr, Lorraine Corriveau, Rena Doucette and Jacqueline Dumond.
At age 18 she moved to Connecticut and started a family. She worked for nearly 23 years in the spring industry before retiring and then realizing her gift of providing care to the special needs in her home. Then she returned to where she grew up to look over the land for which she would run as a child and the home she was raised in, to live out her life of rocking in her chair and talking to all her loved ones. She was a member of Ladies of St. Anne.
Friends and relatives may call 8:30-10:45 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at Michaud Funeral Home, St. Agatha. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Agatha Catholic Church with the Rev. Phil Cyr officiating. Burial will be at St. Agatha Lower Cemetery.
