MADAWASKA and FORT KENT – Joseph Wilfred Bouley, 68, died peacefully Oct. 22, 2011, surrounded by family at a local nursing home, after a long illness. Joe was born May 9, 1943, in New Canada Plantation/Daigle, son of the late Leo and Mary Jane (Roy) Bouley of New Canada.
He was a member of American Legion Post 147, Madawaska. Joe proudly served four years in the U.S. Army. After returning home he worked at Pratt & Whitney in Connecticut, then moved back to Maine and worked for Indianhead Plywood Corp., Grants Dairy, and 28 years and 28 days for The Prudential Insurance Co. Joe was an avid sportsman; he loved hunting, and fishing for trout in the many streams and beaver dams across the St. John Valley. He was married in 1966 for 20 years to Sarah Zellers of New Britain, Conn.
He is survived by his children, Teri and husband, John Gavelek, of Orland, Brian of Maui, Hawaii, Bruce of Grand Isle, Michelle and husband, Carl Sirois, of Frenchville and Denise and husband, Scot Sloniker, of Mankato, Minn.; and siblings, Leo Jr. and wife, Evangeline, of Fort Kent, Aurele and wife, Marie, of New Canada, Gilman and wife, Marthe, of Fort Kent, Ronald and wife, Lita, of New Canada, Roger and wife, Beth, of Florida, Joyce and husband, Wilmer Daigle, of Caribou and LouMay Bouley of Fort Kent. Joe was proud of his eight grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his infant brother, LeRoy; and sister, Jacqueline.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and 1:30 p.m. until time of service Thursday at Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 3 p.m. Thursday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. Committal services with full military honors will be held at Holy Family Cemetery, Daigle.
