TRENTON – Barbara M. Blaschinski, 83, beloved mother and friend, died Nov. 15, 2011, surrounded by people she loved at her residence. She was born Nov. 21, 1927, in Hartford, Conn., the daughter of James J. and Mildred (DeMonte) Cassell.

She was educated in Hartford, Conn., and went to work at a fairly young age. Barbara fell in love, married and had three children with Vincent Blaschinski, who was the boy next door. After many years in West Hartford, Conn., they moved to Niantic and later spent their final years together in Westbrook, Conn. Vincent died in 1992. Years later Barbara decided it was time for a change. She moved to Maine to be near her daughter and son-in-law, Norann and John; and her pride and joy, granddaughter, Emily. She was so proud of and loved the little house she built. She was so grateful for all of her “angels.” Their kindness, gentle touch and laughter meant so much to her. To all that Barbara loved and to everyone who came and gave support and made her feel special, especially Dr. Kathryn Rensenbrink, her nurses, Joyce, Sherry, Emma and Denise and to the best hospice volunteers ever, Mary and Sue. She will be truly missed.

She is survived by one son, James Blaschinski of Connecticut; two daughters, Norann Baranello and husband, John Jr., of Lamoine and Sharon Allen of Connecticut; granddaughter, Emily Baranello of Lamoine; four nieces and one nephew. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Jean Blum.

At Barbara’s request there will be no services. Barbara suggested that any friends wishing to make memorial contributions may give them to Hospice Volunteers of Hancock County, 14 McKenzie Ave., Ellsworth, ME 04605, in her memory. Arrangements in care of Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth. Condolences may be expressed at
