FORT KENT – Alphonse Jesse Charette went home peacefully Feb. 6, 2012, surrounded by family after a courageous fight with prolonged illness. Al was born April 19, 1946, son of the late Joseph and Eva Charette.
He was predeceased by his wife, Rose M. (Gagnon) Charette, Feb. 3, 2012. He is survived by one brother and two sisters; as well as sons, Brian and Roderick; daughter, Nicole; and grandchildren, Amanda, Michaela, Luke, Tony and Theo.
Al was a veteran of the Army National Guard, honorably discharged in April 1969. He contributed greatly to his community throughout the years as an active member of the Jaycees, and as a volunteer for the Boy Scouts, Fort Kent Snowmobile Club and Channel 4.
Funeral services with full military honors will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. There will be no visiting hours at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please donate generously to Edgar J. Paradis Cancer Fund, Northern Maine Medical Center, 194 East Main St., Fort Kent, ME 04743. Funeral services are in the care of Daigle Funeral Home, 14 East Main St., Fort Kent.
