BOOTHBAY HARBOR, Maine — Two men and a woman were recently arrested and face charges related to prostitution.

Jacob Kaler, 32, of Boothbay Harbor was charged with engaging a prostitute and Holli Hudson, 24, of Skowhegan was charged with engaging in prostitution, said Boothbay Harbor police Detective Jared Mitkus on Wednesday afternoon. Both are Class E misdemeanors.

Kaler and Hudson were arrested on Feb. 16 in Boothbay Harbor.

A third person, Reginald Bouchard, 69, was arrested at his Skowhegan home on Tuesday on a warrant and charged with promotion of prostitution, a Class D misdemeanor.

For promotion of prostitution, Mitkus said, “all you do is you’re aiding someone in the process of prostitution, like giving someone a ride [to perform the crime].”

The initial arrests of Kaler and Hudson stemmed from police investigating a suspicious vehicle near Bay Street and Summit Road in Boothbay Harbor around 2 a.m. Feb. 16. Mitkus said he could not give out any more details.

All three suspects have since been released on bail.

Mitkus said it’s rare to see crimes involving prostitution.

“I’m going on eight years here and this is the first time I’ve dealt with it here,” he said.

  1. A Class D crime and Mr. Bouchard has his picture plastered on the site.  Give me a break. He should have been just served a summons.

    1. Never understood it since it’s two consenting adults and their bodies.  How isn’t porn prostitution if they are getting paid for sex.  Only difference is a video camera.  So if these two had been filming it would they be charged?

      1. Assuming someone is filming a “legitimate” porno, they have paid for permits and assorted other fees. They will also be paying TAXES on their profits and the actors will have to pay income TAX on their wages. And while a sex act is being committed it falls under “free speech” because it is a performance. Understand now…..yeah, me neither.

Someday maybe governments will realize you cannot legislate morality.

      2. He should have bought her a dinner. Then it would have been like millions of other “dates” that happen all over the country on a daily basis.

  2. Really, What the problem, its only what God put them here for. If they want to, and i like it, its nobody’s damn business. Wonder if they give senior’s a discount?

        1. Yeesh, I wish I hadn’t… Skanky, REALLY skanky.
She makes the same stupid face in all her pictures, and well, let’s just say she looks the part, and not in a good way.
The sad part is, she has two kids.

          1. She could be collecting welfare. then again maybe she is. Her profits from hooking would be under the table. or on the table, or couch, or stairs, wherever.

  3. Its a crime because money was exchanged and the state cant get its hand on the 7% sales tax, pleasure tax !

  4. Juts because the local LE has never seen it just means he has not been paying attention. there are several web site devoted to this practice. Many in Maine would be surprised by how many ads there are. Even more would be surprised by the ones who live in there general area and just work without advertising. Ladies of the evening are everywhere just because you do not see them walking the streets does not mean they are not there.

  5. Three people arrested and only Mr. Bouchard gets his picture in the paper? If I were Mr. Bouchard i would be calling 1-800-call-joe.

  6. “What a coincidence-the new “Gentlemen’s Club on Harlow Street is opening in the same time frame as full table gaming at the revamped “Hollywood Casino.” “What happens in Bangor stays in Bangor.”

  7. It seems to me, that if two people want to engage in sex for money, that should be their business. Legalize it and regulate where it happens, what measures the girls need to take in order to not spread diseases and how much can be charged. Make it like any other commodities. Health insurances, medical check ups at least once a week all around. That might bolster the economy a bit.

  8. “Promotion of Prostitution” ?? Glad to see my tax dollars hard at work. BTW has anyone found that little girl that’s missing ?
