BANGOR – Eunice Houston Gordon died Feb. 21, 2012, at a Bangor hospital. She was born April 1, 1928, in Dexter, daughter of Angus and Freda (Clukey) Mountain.
Eunice graduated from N.H. Fay High School, Dexter, class of 1946. After high school she worked for Displaced Persons Bureau, Washington, D.C., and later for Maine Bonding and Casualty, Bangor. In 1952, she married Wallace S. Houston Jr. and together they raised their three daughters in Brewer. She was a member of Patawa Club for many years, as well as Penobscot Valley Country Club. After Wally’s death she married her childhood friend, Tad Gordon, and they moved to Ocala, Fla., where she worked for MAAS Bros. Eunice and Tad spent their retirement years in Maine and Florida.
She is survived by her daughters and their families, Cynthia Houston Hamilton and husband, Ricker, and son, Sam, Leslie Houston Neville and partner, Jeff Turner, and son, Ned Neville III, and Laurie Houston Sproul and husband, Gregg, and sons, Andy, Jarred and Adam; as well as two great-grandsons, Ethan and Cooper Sproul. She is also survived by five stepchildren, Geoff Gordon, Tom Gordon, Peter Gordon, Debbie Grimmig and Ginny Peabody, and their families. She was predeceased by her husband of 21 years, Wally Houston; her husband of 36 years, Tad Gordon; as well as her brother, Harold Mountain.
A celebration of her life is planned for the spring, with burial at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter. Donations in her memory may be made to Dexter Sunshine Club, care of Nancy Baldwin, 59 Acadia St., Dexter, ME 04930.
