AUGUSTA, Maine — Gas prices in Maine are bucking the national trend and falling, but market analysts don’t expect it to continue.
Price-monitoring website MaineGasPrices.com said Monday the average retail cost of a gallon of gas in Maine has fallen nearly two cents in the past week to an average of $3.81.
The national average has jumped almost four cents in the same time span to an average of $3.75.
Prices in Maine are more than 23 cents higher than on the same day one year ago and 17 cents per gallon higher than a month ago.
A company analyst says peak gas prices are probably still a couple months away.

The price goes up 20 something but falling 2 calls for a story? Let me know when it drops a few bucks.
