LAMOINE, Maine — State police continue to sift through evidence as they wait for a man critically injured in a Lamoine shooting early last Sunday to recover enough to tell his part of the story, according to state police spokesman Stephen McCausland.

“I don’t think there will be any new developments over the weekend,” McCausland said Friday.

Police have left the scene of the shooting at 749 Douglas Highway, where they had been combing the property for evidence for most of the week.

“It was a complicated scene with many players,” McCausland said.

Investigators are still trying to put the players and pieces together to determine what exactly happened that Sunday morning March 11 leading up to the shooting that left one man dead and three others with gunshot wounds.

Police have yet to charge or arrest anyone in connection with the incident, McCausland said.

Lawrence “Randy” Sinclair, 32, his brother Jacob Sinclair, 24, Torrey Garland, 34, and Joshua McKinney, 25, arrived at the Hancock County home of Michael Carter, 30, and Tacy Mullins, 22, at around 4:30 a.m. Sunday, according to police.

Randy Sinclair was mortally shot in the head with a gun and died later that day at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. His friends, Garland and McKinney, along with Carter, also were shot and wounded during the incident.

Garland and Carter also were taken to EMMC, where Garland has been in critical condition and unable to share his account of the shooting, McCausland said. No information is available about Carter, a hospital spokesman said Friday.

Garland’s story is still “one of the missing pieces” for police, according to McCausland.

One gun was collected as evidence, but police are not saying what type of weapon it is or whether it was the only weapon used, McCausland said earlier this week.

McKinney was treated at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth and later released, a hospital representative said Wednesday.

Jacob Sinclair and Mullins were not injured in the quadruple shooting on Douglas Highway, the local name for Route 184. The dead man’s brother has indicated the Ellsworth group went to Lamoine to resolve some sort of dispute.

The home is owned by Mullins’ mother, Juanita Mullins.

Sinclair was a lifetime Hancock County resident who started working as a carpenter for his family’s construction business after graduating Ellsworth High School. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed researching Bigfoot, according to an obituary published in the Bangor Daily News on Friday.

He was close to his family, especially his siblings, the obituary states.

Visiting hours are scheduled noon-5 p.m. Saturday at the Ellsworth chapel of Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Homes. The Rev. Bob Maddocks will officiate the funeral service at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home’s chapel.

  1. Have the stories all been made alike? I think it is interesting that the shooter has yet to be charged with anything, but I suppose these investigations take time.

  2. The police evidently need to have the package wrapped up and tied with a nice ribbon for them before they feel competent to announce a conclusion. I wonder how long it would take for some actual news to be reported if important people were killed or injured. A lot sooner, I guarantee.

    1. There is nothing wrong with having the case solid and wrapped up for the DA to proceed.  I am sure that the “players” in this event haven’t been real forthcoming with the truth.  I don’t think we are starving for news that bad as to make the police rush with a new press release.

      1. Make sure they have the evidence to put the others away for a long time.  It really can’t be done in an hour like on TV, they’ve been there since and I think they are showing some respect to the family.  You’ll hear it all on Monday.

    1. Well, maybe that will be appropriate…

Show up at my house at 4Am looking for a fight and you might get shot too!

  3. one question if these guys showed up and carter started to shoot at them how did he end up in the hospital. did he shoot him self . if he was the only one with a gun he must have, which i really doubt. there must be more then was printed.the police are not saying if there were more than one weapon, and you only have the word of one person whos brother was killed, not the most objective person.

      1. im referring to jake sinclairs facebook page which claimed carter just opened fire on them. i did not say i believed him. the police have never said that mullins shot anyone.even though this is most likely true.

        1. 4 to 1 seems a little outnumbered and the police appeared to be looking for a second gun.  I don’t think any were stellar citizens but this is just plain redneck stupidity with the guns and ME needs to start doing better than a two day background check with no license.  Most states revoke your licence for domestics and terrorizing to avoid crap like this.

  4. Regardless of who is “innocent” or “guilty”….maybe, just maybe all those involved and their friends will wake up and change for the better.

    1. if the cause if what i think it is the big guy needs to come down here.. what augusta and others are doing is not working

  5. If five guys showed up at my place 4:30 am to settle a dispute, They would get the same treatment from Mr.Winchester!

    1.  The word on the streets is that one of them is a “enforcer”, the kind of person you send to collect.  He brought backup.  Alas the backup (known for willingness to get into fist fights) did not count on guns being there.  The enforcer approached the door.    Shotgun went off striking enforcer in the stomach.  Another gun went off striking the elder brother “between the eyes” killing him instantly.  People fled and police were called.

        1.  My mistake, they were deciding if they should remove the bullet, when he died.  Thankyou for pointing out my oversight.

  6. I heard that someone on facebook posted that they spoke to Garland on the phone. If he is able to talk to someone on the phone why isn’t he talking to police? maybe the police will be speaking with his lawyer?

  7. Having know a couple of these guys my whole life, I am incredibly offended by most of these comments. None of you were there, none of you know these people, and your speculations are just that. Nothing better to do than sit around running your mouths about something that you know nothing about. Just because they wanted to “resolve a dispute” does not mean violence was intended, or that drugs were involved. Until this whole thing comes to light, try being a human being and keeping your snide comments to yourself.

      1. Don’t know how old you are but when you grow up out in the middle of nowhere, and you are young….. time is irrelevant, especially when you’re hanging out with your friends. Considering that the circumstances are unknown and everyone just wants to speculate, has anyone considered that Carter called Torrey, asked him to come over and reconcile their differances, and Torrey called a couple of his friends to just come along to make sure things didn’t get out of hand. The kicker being that nobody was expecting a gun to be involved. That statement is aslo speculation, but no more unlikely than any other scenario.

        1.  Word is, Torrey doesnt have friends, unless you mean the people whom hire him to do the dirty work.  Things get broken around Torrey, if you get my drift.  If you are a friend of Torrey’s?  We will eventually be reading about you in the BDN.

        2. These weren’t teenagers, they were in their 20/30s.  Your ‘story’ sounds like an alibi that noone would believe.  Nothing good happens after midnight.

    1.  While I agree with what you are saying here, you might as well not even bother. I’ve stated ever since this happened that a man has lost his life, and people were praying that another pulls through, and people should have compassion for the friends and family of those involved. All I got in response was a load of bull about how these people were thugs, and got what they deserve.

Compassion seems to be lacking in cases like this, the feelings of family members and friends of those involved obviously don’t matter to many people on here.

I hope that the couple of guys you know involved come through ok, both physically and mentally. If Randy happened to be one of them, then I’m sorry for your loss. No matter what he may or may not have done, he was loved by many, and they are all grieving his death.

    2. Seriously no violence intended? You are kidding right? people had guns loaded and pointed them at each other i would suspect violence was indeed intended and carrried out

  8. All I can say is monday can’t come soon enough! I want to hear what the police have come to a conclusion on. There are so many rumors and stories that are going along with this. Some I can believe without a doubt and others are too fishy and don’t make sense.

    1. Does it really matter. It will not change a thing. Every single person involved in what happened last Sunday morning will be paying for the rest of their lives just living with what happened. One of them payed with his life. It’s tragic! Hoping that this might bring people together as a community, or individuals would be a more productive thing to hope for Monday morning.

  9. Every time I think that mans inhumanity to man can’t get any worse I am always jolted back to reality. This is a horrific thing that happened.   When the police  come up with a conclusion it will change nothing.  Won’t change the events of last Sunday morning.  If there is one thread of  positiveness in this it is perhaps a youngster may chose to change his path in life.  So I can assure you that no matter who’s side your on, or who you want hurt from this whole incident it will be the people involved, family, friends, community…………Everyone pays.
