CORINTH – Mona Habeeb, 80, passed away Saturday, March 24, 2012, after a short illness. She was born Nov. 20, 1931, in Caribou.

She grew up in Caribou with three brothers and a sister to working parents. She graduated from Caribou High School in 1950, met a handsome Lebanese man named Kenneth Habeeb, and fell in love. When her parents moved to Corinth in 1951 to start a family farm, she stayed behind to marry her man. Her son, Rocknee, was born in 1952; her daughter, Kristie, was born in 1955. She dabbled in several small jobs in her early years, mostly to help a struggling young family, but had no interest in a professional career, preferring to maintain a simple life concentrating on being a loving mother and wife, raising and teaching her children as best she could. In her latter years, she lived in Corinth with her loving mother, Eunice Thompson, who predeceased her. While living in Corinth, she found the Lord and began worshipping him at Corinth United Methodist Church as long as her health allowed her to attend.

She was predeceased by her father, Carl Sr.; and brothers, Carl Jr. and Winston. She is survived by her brother, Wayne Darling and wife, Tanya; her sister, Virginia Philbrick and her son, Tim Philbrick; a son, Rocknee Habeeb and wife, Susan; a daughter, Kristie Deschaine; and grandchildren, Ryan and Evan Habeeb and Joshua Deschaine. The family extends their thanks to the nursing staff at Eastside Rehabilitation for the wonderful love and care given their mother during her illness.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend a small and respectful service 1 p.m. until time of services 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, at Thompson Funeral Home, 17 Hudson Road, Corinth, with the Rev. James Proctor officiating. Please visit
