BANGOR – Clyde R. “Bud” Connolly, 77, died March 31, 2012, at his home. He was born June 6, 1934, in Brewer, to Maxine and Jeremiah Connolly.

Bud graduated from John Bapst High School, where he excelled in football and art.

Bud was in the Navy submarine service and served on the USS Hardhead during the Korean War. He later worked in the merchant marines for various companies. Bud held various occupations to support his wife and four children. Another passion throughout his life was hunting and fishing. He was an accomplished artist and studied through Famous Artist School. Bud was a lifetime member of Bangor Lodge of Elks No. 244, where he had many close friends and volunteered at cookouts, as well as carpentry and landscaping around the lodge.

Bud was predeceased by his parents; his daughter, Cheryl; and his sister, Marilyn Hobbs.

He is survived by his son, Michael; his daughters, Tammara and Maria; his brothers, Jere, Alan and Michael; several nieces and nephews.

The Elks officers will conduct a memorial service celebrating Bud’s life 6 p.m. Friday, April 27, at Bangor Lodge of Elks No. 244, Social Room, 108 Odlin Road, Bangor. Family and friends may gather 5 p.m. until the time of service in the social room at the Elks Lodge. Interment will be private at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Augusta.
