BANGOR – Jennie Ella Filtz, 82, wife of the late Joseph Filtz Jr., died April 20, 2012, at her home. She was born April 2, 1930, in Kossuth Plantation, the daughter of Fayette and Delvine (Severance) Keith.
She married Joseph Filtz Jr. Sept. 4, 1951, in Kingman, and was employed as a certified nurse’s aide and then a mental health aide at Bangor Mental Health Institute until her retirement. Jennie was a member of AFSCME and enjoyed crocheting blankets, going to yard sales, cheering for the Red Sox and watching wildlife in her backyard. She spent her entire life caring for others. She was known for being an excellent storyteller and for her great sense of humor.
Jennie is survived by two sons, Brian Filtz and his wife, Joanne, of Hudson and Keith Filtz and his fiancee, Dawn Arey, of Bangor; daughter, Joan Williams and her husband, Bill, of Bangor; grandson, Robert Goodin of Hudson; her brother, Ivan Keith of Mapleton; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband of 60 years, she was also predeceased by many brothers and a sister.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. Friends may call 1 p.m. until the time of service Wednesday.
