FORT KENT and ST. FRANCIS – Fernand L. Ouellette, 84, died peacefully April 22, 2012, surrounded by his family at a Fort Kent health care facility. He was born Jan. 8, 1928, in St. Francis, the son of Willie and Neacy (Dube) Ouellette.

Fernand served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of American Legion Jandreau-Connors Post No. 180, St. Francis; and Catholic Order of Foresters, Fort Kent. Fernand was a devoted Red Sox fan, who enjoyed watching every game that he could, and playing cribbage.

He is survived by five children, Michael Ouellette of Fort Kent, Jeffrey Ouellette and his wife, Kim, of St. Francis, Rodney Ouellette and his wife, Vicky, of St. John, Carolyn Pelletier and her husband, Michael, of Fort Kent and Bill Ouellette and his wife Tara, of Buxton; 10 grandchildren, Kelsie, Darcy, Bradley, Ashley, Gina, Courtney, Marissa, Sherrie, Patrick and Liz; two stepgrandchildren, Matthew and Timmy; eight great-grandchildren, Rylee, Tessa, Shelby, Wyatt, Trevor, Kolby, Lilly and Adeline; two brothers, Leonard Ouellette of Vernon, Conn., and Aldeo Ouellette of Wallingford, Conn.; and one sister, Patsy Taggett of Fort Kent. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Pauline (Taggett) Ouellette, in 2009; one daughter, Sherry Ouellette; a brother, Herman Ouellette; and a sister, Mildred Bard.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday, April 26, at St. Charles Catholic Church, St. Francis. Committal services will be afterward at St. Francis

Catholic Cemetery. Those who wish may donate in Fernand’s memory to Edgar J. Guy Paradis Cancer Fund, 194 East Main St., Fort Kent, ME 04743. Envelopes will be available at the church. Funeral services are being conducted by Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent.
