CARIBOU – Roger Pelkey, 75, passed away unexpectedly May 13, 2012 at his home. Roger was born in Limestone, son of William and Edith (Hurd) Pelkey.

Roger loved farming. He enjoyed and was very well known for growing and selling potatoes from his home on the Fort Fairfield Road. He loved to buy and sell almost anything, and he seemed to always have something for sale. He took great care and was very particular in maintaining his special interest cars. Roger was employed by Maine Bag Co., Eastern Maine Starch Factory, and R.W. Wight throughout the years. He worked for Cary Medical Center until his retirement in 2000, after 31 years of service.

Roger is survived by his wife, Jeannette (Cote) Pelkey; children, Ricky and wife, Lisa Pelkey, of Caribou, Tammy White of West Lebanon, and Farren Pelkey of South Portland; and siblings, Norma Guthrie of Caribou, Mary Lou and husband, Tom Conlin, of Holbrook, Mass., and James and wife, Angela Pelkey, of Limestone. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Chelsea White, Dustin and wife, Nicole White, Danielle Pelkey, and Courtney; great-granddaughter, Merrick; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Roger was predeceased by his first wife, Elaine (Cyr) Pelkey; brothers, Robert “Manny,” Patrick “Weese,” and David; sister, Cecile; and daughter-in-law, Kathy Pelkey.

Family and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 17, at Lancaster Morgan Funeral Home with vigil prayers at 5:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 1 p.m. Friday at Parish of the Precious Blood, Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Caribou, with the Very Rev. Jean Paul Labrie officiating. Hospitality will be after at the parish hall. There will be a private interment at Old Holy Rosary Cemetery, Caribou.
