NORWAY, Maine – Norman Joseph Boucher died peacefully Monday, May 28, 2012, surrounded by family. Norman was born May 10, 1932, in Old Town, to Edward Boucher, formerly of New Brunswick, and Constance Webb Boucher, formerly of Windsor, England.

He graduated from Old Town High School and attended Husson College, Bangor, until joining the Army. He proudly served at the 121st Evacuation Hospital, Korea. He married the love of his life, Jeanne D. Brodeur, in November 1955. They lived in Lincoln and Old Town, moving to the South Paris/Norway, Maine, area in 1995 to be closer to their grandchildren. Throughout the years Norman worked at Lincoln Trust Bank, Lincoln; Webber Oil Co., Bangor; Dysart’s Transportation, Bangor; the Old Town school district; and James River, Old Town. He served many years in the Army, Air National Guard and Army National Guard, earning many commendations. Norman was a hardworking, modest man with a quick wit, who took great pleasure from the simple things in life – hunting with his father, time with family at Pushaw Lake and the coast of Maine, golf, volleyball, gardening, helping neighbors, and playing with his grandchildren. Throughout his life he was continuously active in the community, serving in various capacities with sports boosters, Little League, organizing local foot races, and serving as church lector and on St. Joseph’s Parish Council, Knights of Columbus and other service groups. He was a loving caregiver to Jeanne in her final years, devoting himself entirely to her until her death last October.

Norman and Jeanne are survived by their four children, Michael Boucher and wife, Elizabeth Patten, of Freeport, Susan Lachance and husband, Dean, of Augusta, Carol Jones and husband, Steve, of Harrison and Paula Henderson and husband, Chris, of Concord, N.H. They leave 10 grandchildren, Tyler Boucher of Ottawa, Ontario, Miles Boucher of Freeport, Jacob Lachance and Zachary Lachance of Augusta, Hannah Brown of New York City, Sarah Brown of East Wilton, Max Brown of South Paris and Harrison, Jessica Henderson and fiance, Maxwell Matthewson, of Corona, Calif., and Katherine Henderson and Jonathan Henderson of Concord, N.H. He will be missed by siblings, Jean Butler, Wilfred Boucher, Katherine Pelletier, Teresa Harris, Richard Boucher, Robert Boucher and Helen Hesseltine, and their spouses; many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Jeanne; infant daughters, Norma, Nancy and Edith Boucher; and siblings, Donald Boucher and Dorothy Boucher Angotti. The family especially thanks the dedicated staff at Maine Veterans Home, South Paris, Maine, for their extraordinary kindness and attention to Norman and his family during his last few months.
