BRADFORD, Maine — A local man was charged with felony arson after police say he set a vehicle on fire early Sunday.
Darrick Trask, 25, of Bradford was charged with Class A arson in the 1:45 a.m. vehicle fire after investigators Scott Richardson and Stu Jacobs determined the blaze was arson, Sgt. Ken Grimes of the state fire marshal’s office confirmed Tuesday.
Trask, who had bottles filled with a flammable liquid when arrested, made his first appearance in court on Monday in front of Superior Court Justice Ann Murray at the Penobscot Judicial Center. His bail was set at $15,000 cash or $30,000 surety, a court clerk said. Assistant District Attorney Maggie Grey requested several conditions, which were approved by Murray, the clerk said.
Maine State Police Trooper Brian Bean was the first officer to respond to the vehicle fire and called in the fire investigators.
Trask faces up to 30 years behind bars and a fine of up to $50,000 if convicted of arson. He was booked into Penobscot County Jail after his arrest on Main Street in Bradley at 5:15 a.m. Sunday. He remained in jail on Tuesday afternoon, apparently unable to raise the $15,000 cash bail.

Yes it was his grandfather….And the car was 3 ft from a doorstep where children were sleeping inside at 1:45 in the morning!
