BELGRADE LAKES – Reona “Rea Rea” (Bean) Heino, 80, a resident of Chandler Road, Belgrade Lakes, and formerly of Atlantic Avenue, Boothbay Harbor, died peacefully July 24, 2012, surrounded by her family in her home after a courageous battle with ALS. Reona was born Jan. 8, 1932, in Colebrook, N.H., the daughter of Elmer H. Bean Sr. and Bessie M. (Chase) Bean.
She grew up in Bethel and Portland, where she attended local schools and graduated from Gould Academy, class of 1950. While residing in Boothbay Harbor she owned and operated a local gift shop and two shoe stores. In 1984 when the Flagship Inn opened she began her 25-year career as assistant manager, retiring in 2009. Reona was a member of Congregational Church of Boothbay Harbor. She much enjoyed the fellowship of her lady friends while helping with suppers at the church and charity knitting. Reona was an avid sports fan, especially dedicated to watching her beloved Red Sox, Celtics and Dallas Cowboys. She also enjoyed other activities, such as knitting, cross-stitching, embroidery, quilting, cooking and bird watching.
She was predeceased by her parents; and a sister, Barbara Bent. Surviving are four sons, Michial Heino and his wife, Dianne, of Belgrade Lakes, Danial Heino of Edgecomb, Scott Heino of California and Jeffrey Heino of Belgrade; one daughter, Pamela Aloupis of Falmouth; one brother, Elmer H. Bean Jr. and his wife, Arlene, of West Bethel; 12 grandchildren, Amy Heino, Nicholas Heino, ReAnna Heino, Rebecca Ingalls and her husband, Scot Crichton, Amanda Jones and her husband, Stephen, Kristen Aloupis and her husband, Al Ventzek, Evan Aloupis, Vance Aloupis Jr. and his wife, Mariella, Kira Aloupis, Kaili Aloupis, Kaici Aloupis and Kaidi Aloupis; eight great-grandchildren, Imogen Bean Crichton-Ingalls, Charles Burkitt Crichton-Ingalls, Matthew Jones, Sarah Jones, Meghan Jones, Allyson Jones, Ella Ventzek and Isabella Aloupis; three nieces, one nephew; her good friend, Kim Hodgdon; and her goddaughter, Holly Morris. A beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and faithful, loyal friend to those who knew her, she will be greatly missed. The family is extremely grateful for the compassionate and professional care provided by Dr. Amy Madden and the staff of Belgrade Regional Health Center and the staff of HealthReach Hospice and Volunteers of Kennebec Valley. The family expresses a special thank you to Tina Clement for her compassionate care and friendship provided to Reona during the past few months.
At Reona’s request, there will be no public visitation or funeral service.
