PROSPECT, Maine — In the foggy Sunday afternoon, people at Fort Knox were sharing stories of ghosts, demons, UFOs and interactions with worlds beyond our own.
Believers gathered for the second day of the annual Psychic and Paranormal Faire at Fort Knox. It was the seventh time the Friends of Fort Knox has hosted the unusual event, said Leon Seymour, the Friends’ executive director.
Seymour said the weekend had gone smoothly, though the drizzly weather kept attendance under 300. He said the event taps into a current in pop culture that is obsessed with the paranormal.
“Eight years ago, there weren’t ghost-hunting TV shows on every cable channel,” he said. “We don’t make any claims to the validity of all this, but it does reflect the popular culture.”
Last year, the crew from SyFy Channel’s “Ghost Hunters” conducted an investigation at Fort Knox and claimed to have found all kinds of spectral activity. Seymour said that has created a buzz around the fort and attracted believers from all over the country.
On Sunday, the team from Brewer-based East Coast Ghost Trackers gave a presentation to a small crowd. On display were all their gadgets used to help communicate with “the other side.”
Jamie Dube, ECGT’s co-founder, said his team’s ghost hunting works at the intersection of the spiritual and scientific world, using modern technology in their investigations. But he said the electromagnetic sensors, modified digital cameras and other devices aren’t used to help detect ghosts, but to facilitate conversations.
“There are tools that allow them to communicate with us,” he said. “We give them the means to communicate, if they choose to.”
For example, the ghost trackers use a so-called “ghost box” — a FM radio scanner that Dube said can be used to hear ghostly words.
To this reporter, it seemed like nothing more than radio static and brief snippets of ordinary broadcasts. But Dube said trained investigators can hear the difference between the mundane and the paranormal.
“It’s the tone of the voice,” he said. “If I’m asking questions and that same tone comes back over and over, and it answers questions, then you know.”
One of the biggest draws at the Faire was a presentation from Ahura Z. Diliiza, a self-proclaimed “psychic policeman” from Westbrook. Diliiza is an impressive figure, with an intricate tattoo covering half his face and a long set of blond braids flowing from a mohawk. He boasts an impressive ability.
“Usually, when I appear, if there’s a negative entity around, it goes away,” he said. “Or, I make it go away.”
He worked the crowd like a seasoned performer, engaging them and drawing laughs, even when the talk turned to dark topics such as curse-breaking or demonic exorcism, just two of the services Diliiza said he offers.
Inside the fort, at the former officers’ quarters, tarot card readers and mediums set up shop and gave readings and psychic advice. Attendees eagerly shelled out cash for metaphysical insight, from $5 for a basic tarot reading to $40 for a half-hour session with a medium.
Rebecca Albright, an Otis astrologer, has been reading tarot cards for 30 years, she said. She said that when she was a teen, she was taught to read cards and had been doing it ever since. She’s an annual vendor at the Faire, and said the Fort Knox event offers a better atmosphere than other state or county fairs where she offers her services.
“People who are here actually want to explore the metaphysical,” she said. “I go to other fairs and people are there for the oxen.”
Lisa Johnson of South China visited with Sky — just Sky — who gave an intuitive reading. She said that while the psychic had a hard time pulling up specifics, she still had interesting insights to offer.
Still, Johnson’s no skeptic.
“I can understand being skeptical of someone’s ability, but I’m not skeptical that these sorts of energies exist,” she said.
A woman named Ginny — she wouldn’t give her last name — said she came straight to the Faire from church. She said she had had experience with spirits and was excited to see the ghost trackers, but said the rest of the day’s offerings were a bit much.
“I believe in spirits, but I have a hard time with UFOs and demons and stuff,” she said. “But it’s nice to be able to talk to people who have had experiences like I have.”

Hmmmm. A gathering of Gypsies and Cheap drugs? Also, it’s sad to see children present. One must wonder what they are being told.
Sadly the below is real.

Psychic classes for kids claim to help strengthen intuition
It is a type of “religion” just like the Catholics, Baptists, Prodestants, etc. They shouldn’t be judged on their beliefs just because you don’t agree.
Oh please. Children are interested in the paranormal, too. You make it sound like child abuse.
That is what I thought too only I was thinking of the Occupy movement, not Fort Knox.
BOO
And all of them are 100% frauds and fakes.
One to chew on eh, Kevin
There’s a town in Florida called Cassadaga that’s full of these type of people. People come from all over to visit this place. I have to say most people there are the nicest people around. There where some strange one’s though. Oh have I got stories.
Better not call up the ghost of Henry Knox.
He will steal your farm with a bogus land survey and then sell it back to you with an equally fake quick claim deed.
Demons are not to be fooled with. They hate our guts, because we’re made in the image of God, whom they hate as much as they hate us. All they want for us, is for us to end up where they are. I know there will be many who scoff at this, but I’m posting for the ones who may care. My story is way too long to post on the BDN, but demons are very real, and I’m speaking from personal experience. Thank God for Catholic priests, the only people in the world who have absolute power over demons. Demons don’t stand a snowball’s chance against the Christ-given spiritual authority of a Catholic priest.
Demons are not real and once again, I will ask you to share your so called story with me. I asked this before and you did not respond. Please feel free to send your story to wankerdrivers@gmail.com and anyone else can feel free to spam it, as it is a spam account I use.
I’ll try to get it to you. I am about 85% disabled, in large part because of my demonic experience, but I still have to make a living. I have very little energy for outside of what I have to do for work. I’d like to post it here on the BDN, but this comment section will be closed before I have the time and energy to post it.
Mental illnesses are very real. They are no different than any other medical diagnosis. Treatments are different of course but they should be treated the same as diabetes or hypertension. It’s nothing to be ashamed of Heistheone.
I would not be ashamed even it truly were a mental illness. But this is not one. And I know of other people who have had similar experiences like mine. It comes from dealing with the occult side of things, whether on purpose or not. I inadvertently became involved through “alternative medicine.” I had a good friend who was a strong Catholic who warned me to stay away from what I was getting into, but the “practitioner” I was seeing duped me into believing that it was all about harnessing the body’s electro-neurochemical energy of the nervous system. Since I had been a biology major in college, and I was a dentist at the time I was dabbling in the wrong stuff, his explanation made some sort of sense to me. But I realize now that any kind of “energy healing,” like what is associated with dowsing, Reiki, Buddhism, etc., is actually a spiritual action. And the spirits involved are not our friends.
Sounds like an exorcism. And why do only Catholic Priests have powers over demons (assuming they exist)?
It was not an exorcism, as I have been baptized as a Catholic, and a baptized Christian cannot become possessed. It was a full-fledged demonic attack, however, and I was able to get only one hour of sleep in 13 days. It took that long to find a priest with experience in demonology (all priests have the capability, but not all of them have studied how to use their full powers). I was suffering in utter agony, and that priest saved my life, and may have as well saved my soul.
The reason why only Catholic priests have power over demons is that they are the only people who have been authorized by Jesus Christ to have that power. The first priests/bishops of the Catholic Church were the apostles, and they received spiritual power from Christ, when Christ sent the Holy Spirit upon them at Pentecost. The apostles, in turn, ordained other Catholic priests by the laying of hands and the calling down of the Holy Spirit, as has been noted in a few places in the Bible. Some of those priests became bishops, who then later ordained other priests, and so on. Every Catholic priest alive today can trace his ordination backwards, bishop by bishop, until the line begins with the original Pentecost. That lineage is known as Apostolic Succession, and only ordained Catholic priests have been participants in that succession.
Jesus told his apostles, “As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” Jesus was sent with complete authority over all demons, and all Catholic priests have that same authority, because of Apostolic Succession. No other person in the world can do an exorcism, or otherwise drive away a demon.
It is not possible for you to be awake that long and I don’t care what you state otherwise. It is just not going to happen. One hour of sleep in 13 days? You are just making this up and nothing more.
If so called demonic attacks where real why don’t these demons attack us atheist? We are the ones that reject any sort of god so one would think they could take over us with ease since we don’t believe in any sort of god but I’ve yet to read about an atheist having a demonic attack.
If you don’t believe me, then I’m not going to waste my time sending you the story. It is very long and very real, and many people have been adversely affected by seeing the same “alternative medicine practitioner” that I saw. I became disabled by it, and spent 8 years in bed after my end experience with it. I know of marriages ruined, businesses ruined, and at least about one suicide, all because of interaction with this one guy I saw who was supposedly helping people. All the destruction from this guy is demon-related.
Demons usually leave atheists alone, because they know they already have your souls. Demons are more likely to attack someone who has faith in God, but has stepped off the right path, like I did, or they may possess unbaptized people who have given themselves totally, but unknowingly, over to Satan through illicit sex, pornography, or substance abuse. People who purposely worship Satan are not attacked, again, because the demons know that they have their souls targeted for hell already. The demons don’t want to disrupt them and make them realize that maybe they are doing the wrong thing. That’s why you, as an atheist, probably won’t be attacked. Satan knows you’re in his camp, and he doesn’t want to give you a bad time and make you realize that you need to turn to God.
Expertise
I am a professional exorcist and have performed cleanings, exorcisms and curse removals all over the country for over 30 years. I am also a natural telepath and have been doing readings and counseling professionally for equally as long. I run a school of metaphysics where I teach people how to protect themselves, develop their gifts and improve their lives (see my full profile for more information). I specialize in psychic protection and self-defense and can answer questions regarding (among many other subjects) paranormal activity, ghosts, spirits, phantoms (etc), haunted locations, spells, curses, psychic attack, dreams, astral entities, home cleansing and protection, and how to develop your gifts. I will not answer questions here pertaining to relationships, life path or money. My presence on this site is to help people that are experiencing dangerous or frightening paranormal phenomena or are looking for explanations to things they don’t understand. I make my living teaching, counseling and doing readings and offer my time pro-bono here. Click on my name to learn more…
Experience in the area
I own and operate Unicorn Cove School of Metaphysics where I teach students all over the world how to develop their gifts, protect themselves psychically and improve their lives. In addition to my school I also train a group of psychic investigators to assist me with house cleanings/blessings, entity removals and exorcisms. I was born a telepath and have been able to see my entire life. I have 30+ years of experience healing, counseling and giving readings. I have been professionally teaching the metaphysical sciences and divine arts for over 20 years and now own and operate my own school of metaphysics where I teach private classes online to individuals looking to improve their lives, develop their gifts and keep themselves protected in addition to individual, specialized training. I have cleaned people’s homes of negative vibrations and dark entities and have performed full exorcisms (when I clean a place it stays clean!). I have a group of psychic investigators whom I have trained to assist me, some of whom reside in different parts of the country as well. I have stopped nightmares, fended off attacks, removed spells and broken curses. I have taught countless people how to protect themselves psychically and maintain the sanctity of their homes. What I do is not a hobby or simply something that I enjoy; it is my profession and my life’s work. I am not someone who has merely studied the paranormal, I live it, and I have dedicated my life to teaching people how to evolve. I am a Universal servant. My job is to help people and that is what I do. If you are looking for real answers and practical solutions I can help.
Although Kev, you must admit, that kind of sleep deprivation would explain the dillusions Heistheone is suffering from.
You need to take your medicine
You need to realize that good and evil spirits truly exist. And they are competing for where your soul will spend eternity, heaven or hell. The evil ones are trying harder for you than the good ones. God gives you a choice whether to follow him or not. Satan works hard to entice you.
That wasn’t very nice of you @smy4405:disqus . @Heistheone:disqus was giving a REQUESTED explaination of how Catholic priests are the only ones that do exorcisms. Just because you aren’t a believeer doesn’t mean that their beliefs are due to a mental illness.
Catholic priest certainly had allot of power over the children they raped.
Those priests grossly violated the teachings of Christ that they had vowed to uphold, and they were not even remotely acting in a Catholic manner. Demonic is more like it.
But if Priests were given the power by Jesus to resist the demons, how can we blame the demons on their child molestation actions? I smell contradiction!!!!
Priests are human. To resist a demon is a choice we can all make. Those priests obviously didn’t resist the temptation to commit a heinous sin. To actually drive a demon away which is attacking somebody else, requires the power of a holy priest whose soul is clean in the eyes of God.
One good man,
Fr. Gerald Fitzgerald, tried to stop the priest from raping children way back in 1963. Sadly the church ignored him and now they ridicule him in his grave.
Here are some of the letters he sent to the Pope begging for the molesters to be defrocked and that the church stop ordaining known molesters. http://www.bishop-accountability.org/news2008/05_06/2008_06_16_Ebeling_ProofBishops.htm
This isn’t ok. Not all Priest molested children yet folks like yourself love to spread the hate that this is what the Priesthood is all about.
That is true, but the church and many of the lay people knew which one of their brothers where molesters. Instead of stopping the child rapes they decided protecting the church from scandal was more important then serving Jesus.
One good man
Fr. Gerald Fitzgerald tried to stop the child rapers in 1963 but he was ridiculed and then ignored by the Vatican. http://www.bishop-accountability.org/news2008/05_06/2008_06_16_Ebeling_ProofBishops.htm
It is certainly not what the Priesthood is all about; but the lack of action (other than to try to cover it up) from the Catholic church at all levels, including the Vatican and So-called Holy See, makes them all accountable for these heinious crimes. Shame on the whole lot of them! These Priests are the real Demons, and the Church not only protected them, they perpetuated their crimes.
You look at how many Catholic priests there are in the world and not all of them are rapists. That is profiling and really isn’t fair to those priests that are good people and wouldn’t harm a child in any way.
I’m sure you are correct. However those priest all knew who the molesters where and they decided it was more important to protect their organization then it was to protect the victims.
This is what modern sociaties are trying to change. By educating children early about human sexuality and by making it OK for people to be open about their needs we remove the vial.
Just like the coaches at Penn state, just like the Boy Scouts of America did as well. I agree that something like that should never be “pushed under the rug”, but we do need to realize that not all are that way. I completely agree with you about educating our children on this subject.
Jesus teaches us to forgive those who are truly repentant. In part because we are all sinners in one way or another but unless an organization is willing to come clean about their problems I don’t see how they expect anyone’s compassion.
you had me convinced until you mentioned the priests.
I didn’t know about this at all I would’ve gone because I’m on vacation for 2 weeks and haven’t had a damn thing to do…thanks BDN….
I went one year. Some of it is quite hoaky, but I have a strong interest in the paranormal and have had several weird experiences over the years that can’t be explained. Been going to Ft Knox since I was a kid, and though it is a little creepy in places, I’ve never had any ‘experiences’ there.
me neither, but it can get a little spine tingly when youre in the fort’s hallways and nobody else is there…
Even if it is all fake, what’s wrong with interest in the paranormal? It’s all in good fun, no one is trying to rip anyone off. Chill out people.
All they do is rip people off.
From the article: Attendees eagerly shelled out cash for metaphysical insight, from $5 for a basic tarot reading to $40 for a half-hour session with a medium.
Some poor sucker paid 40 dollars to have someone tell them lies so yes, they are ripping people off big time. These people are nothing but scam artist that thrive on those with weak minds.
Eagerly, key word. They enjoyed it, so who cares.
It gives people false hope, which is sad.
For some people, any hope is a good thing.
People pay money for things that may not have any real value all the time, but these things make them happy. If you don’t like it, then don’t go and don’t pay for something that YOU don’t enjoy.
Not my cup of tea either. So I won’t go. There, that was easy. I bet that there are things that I enjoy doing that hold absolutely no interest for many people.
For me, going to any one of these “fairs” in the state where the rides have a “might fall appart at any time” feel is also a waste of time and money. If people are honest, there is not one of us who does not waste money on something at some point.
You and many other people probably spend an occassional $9 for an hour and a half of drivel (the majority of movies put out now) in the name of entertainment. One person’s entertainment may not be the same as another. Some people have their palms and futures ‘read’ for the fun of it and if someone wants to base their life on something a tarot card reader tells them, that’s their business.
I found it very enjoyable, I really liked the presentation by Ahura Z. Diliiza. While he appears a bit weird he actually offered a lot of common sense advice.
Trying for a spot on SYFY with all the other CRAPOLA.
I enjoyed myself the time I went a few years back. Probably would have checked it out yesterday if I’d known it was going on. Beat sitting home on a dreary day blowing off housework and sitting on my butt!
I probably would have taken a ride too, had I known about it.
The Friends of Fort Knox will do anything to make a buck. I’m surprised they don’t have a deal with the LePage administration to transfer prisoners to be housed there.
That would make more sense than the Psychic fair!
There is more activity at Fort Knox (Scottish Tattoo, this event, Fright at the Fort, etc…) every year than the other state parks combined. It brings people and families to the area, maybe they drop some money in Bucksport at the ice cream store or have Lobster roll or hamburger at one of the eateries on 46.
Yes, it’s such a negative thing that the Friends of Fort Know does.
OMG!!! I am so sick of every news story ending up having LePage brought into it or Obama or Mitt Romney! Good grief!
The fort is no more haunted than any other home or graveyard. Strange things happen every where. Too bad we can’t do a exorcism to be rid of the foolish ones who buy into this nonsense.
Kinda pointless.. Nobody ever died at Fort Knox…. Just the caretaker a long time ago in the house near the property.
oh boy…are you kidding me?
The only paranormal thing I see is the black guy with blond hair and the Mike Tyson face tatoo. My guess is that most of his beliefs are a result of one too many times puffin the ganja or perhaps a lttle too long a trip on the magical mystery tour (if youknow what I’m sayin).
“There’s a sucker born every minute”
Speaking of racists…
“We don’t make any claims to the validity of all this, but it does reflect the popular culture,” says Mr. Seymour. He might well have said ” it’s probably bogus, but what the hell, a fool and his money are soon parted, and we’ll gladly take the money!” There isn’t a carnie – or a campaign hustler either – in the world who doesn’t grasp that little truism.
I don’t see many people who are commenting on here who have had an experience, probably because of all the naysayers. We’re not talking white sheets and rattling chains here, people. I am a well-educated, rational, science-driven person who personally believes there’s more out there than we are aware of. I have had a few minor experiences, and even more peculiar is one my child had the age of 3. It wasn’t a I-woke-up-and-saw-the-boogie man-in-the-corner make-believe story a little kid tells. It was a middle of the day, in a sunny house, terrifying experience that made him refuse to go upstairs at a relative’s house for approximately 4 years after. So unless someone has had something happen to them, though it’s absolutely normal to be skeptical, they should be a little more tolerant of that of which they do not understand. Long ago we though there was no way there would ever be a ‘flying machine’ and people thought that Ben Franklin was a whack job but look where that evolved.
It’s a fact that you can not destroy energy – including the human soul. It is transferred into something else. How can we all be so sure that spirits are not real? Just because some of us haven’t seen one for ourselves doesn’t mean that they are a hoax.
You’ll need to demonstrate how the “human soul” is a form of energy for that argument to hold up.
I wonder how many kids were having nightmares last night.
There’s no denying that Mario
Moretti’s article on the Paranormal and Psychic Faire at Fort Knox
was laden with prejudice. For the most part, this only meant that it
was rude, unprofessional, and bad journalism.
But with his depiction of Ahura Z.
Diliiza, prejudice against the trappings of Diliiza’s ethnicity
were cornerstone to Moretti’s other judgments.
He was evidently too distracted by
Diliiza’s moko (the tattoo sacred to Diliiza’s Maori culture) and
braids to ask any real questions.
Diliiza is not merely a
“self-proclaimed ‘psychic policeman,’” he is a psychic
policeman, that is his profession. It has been for over 25 years.
Those who have needed his help can attest to his knowledge, and to
his grounded, matter-of-fact approach.
Additionally, Diliiza owns Unicorn Cove
School of Metaphysics, where he teaches students how to psychically
protect themselves and others.
In the paranormal field, there are a
lot of enthusiastic people making guesses in the dark; Ahura Z.
Diliiza is not one of them. For him the lights are on. Gifted from
day one, trained by a powerful teacher, and seasoned by his many
years’ experience, he operates with a level of vision and knowledge
unparalleled in the field. Had Moretti asked questions, or even
listened, he would have noticed that.
Moretti’s wish to portray Diliiza as
a costumed performer was not only rude and small-minded, it was
bigoted.

Well said.
