  1. One of the biggest stars that have played in Bangor this summer and he gets a one line comment? There are a lot of photos, doesn’t the BDN have a reviewer? He is one of the few I would have paid to see.

  2. You don’t get in-depth reporting like this just anywhere.

Could be a Pulitzer in the BDN’s future for this awesome piece.

  3. Amazing night. A true ‘gem’ of a show. It was, once again, great to see the thousands excited and having a good time. Even witnessed a few children who now think of Keith Urban as their ‘idol’. Great interaction with the crowd. Outstanding production. Keep rolling Bangor! WFC 2012

    1. The BEST part of the show was when Keith went out into the crowd to sing and then autographed his guitar and passed it to a young lady and told her it was hers!

    2. I am kind of upset, i was told they were sold out of tickets.  Oh well, tonight ill be there.  You going

    3. ditto terence, only complaint is i was in sec 7 which was kind of in the middle and the view was not so good, especially when the crowd all stood up which is fine if they have big screens. i think the show was second to none, very entertaining especially with the audience participation on stage except for ryan from kennebunk with his vulgar comment that i think took keith urban by surprise. usually  a concert of this caliber has big screens so the people can see the stage better. i felt the light show was nothing short of a prom performance at a high school prom. everything else was great.

  4. Maybe they are trying to reduce the amount of paper they use in the print versions.
Monday’s paper will be an 8½”
X 11″ double sided (of course) piece of copy paper.
I can see the whole paper the day after the election.

    1. I think he is probably feeling his “dive into the crowd” this morning, but yes, very entertaining.

  5. A friend of mine called me to say “can you hear this” and it was the concert through his phone and he was in his bedroom. He is a doctor and had to do a hip replacement at 6 am this morning which meant he had to be at the hospital at 4am for prep. That doesn’t leave many hours for a restful sleep. I am glad it wasn’t me getting a hip replaced by him even though he is one of the best surgeons in Bangor. People need rest and deserve it in URD1 zoning. The concerts seem great for Bangor but they will be a lot better off when they are inside the new multi million dollar facility where they belong so they can stop disturbing the peace.

From what I could hear through the phone though, it sounded pretty good.

    1. Maybe he should get a white noise machine to block out some of the sounds. Doctors usually have figured out ways to help them sleep when they have to work early or crazy hours

      1. I guess he could go that direction but he metioned something about a class action law suit instead. Don’t shoot the messenger, I could care less.

        1. Not trying to shoot the messenger…just saying, there are other resolutions. Class action lawsuit sounds a little extreme, but if he wants to try, good luck!

          1.  The next time you have a surgeon about to put a knife to your chest, or a dentist about to drill your teeth, you’d better hope he or she had a good night’s sleep – and their hands aren’t shaking. A white noise machine won’t cut it – I use an airconditioner to mask the noise, and that’s a mile away! I agree with Bushfan (even if he seems to be a fan of one of our worst presidents!). There is no reason that the entire town of Bangor has to listen to a concert when they need sleep, or whatever! Somehow folks don’t seem to comprehend that this town is composed of more than bars, restaurants and hotels. But perhaps, in time, that is all that will be left of downtown Bangor.

          2. And Brewer! Could hear the concert clear as day across the river , up a hill, and nestled deep in the middle of a neighborhood past the North Brewer Plaza where Paradis is located.

          3. believe it or not, sound travels uphill very well, better than down hill. i live uphill from a school and i can hear the ballgames going on over 1000ft away very well

          4. those little foam ear plugs work wonders. i got used to using those at college because of the thump thump down the hall from stereos. really they work well

      2.  White noise machine will not stop the bass traveling through the ground to your organs and disrupting your heartbeat.

    2.  I agree entirely with you. I can also tell you that there are hundreds who also agree with you, more likely thousands. Interestingly, those who oppose restricting the decibel levels (other than those who benefit financially from these concerts),  seem to be under the “impression?” – more likely denial – that there are only ” a few” who object. Puleeeeze!

    3. There are about 15 or so concerts out of a whole year! AND…they are over by about 10:30!!! People can use earplugs, or find another alternative. Adapt to (new) situations. It’s a requirement in life.

  6. The real “Biggie” must be tonight.  Hundreds of blue no-flush Porta Potties lined up Main Street, and down Railroad Street.  Tents have taken up a quarter  of the northbound right traffic lane.

  7. wow someone really didn’t feel like writing how the concert went didn’t they.  journalism at its very best.

    1. Final song ended at about 10:40, not an unreasonable time,  and most folks left peacably for their cars.   No way to control how many beers a person drinks during a concert, but there was a LOT of beer being consumed, and there were lots of folks who were pretty tanked.  No wonder they were climbing lampposts in town.   Waterfront venue definitely needs screens for those of us in the back.  Missed some things, but luckily not Ryan!

  8. And why did the BDN not state that after the concert that the Bangor Police had to call in off duty police to help break up and disburse 300-400 people downtown by the concert?
And that the Bangor police were stateing that out of those 300-400 people some were on cars and lightpost also! All people had to do was listen to the police scanner to hear that. but the BDN did not bother to report that, why??

  9. previously attended concerts on the waterfront and “MUST “say this is the best I’ve attended to date….only draw back is when people stand is hard to see the stage…  maybe a screen would help….

    1. Who wants to SIT at a concert??? People should be standing and dancing…music (MOST music) makes your body want to move…it would be very difficult to sit still in a chair while listening to and enjoying music. I agree on the screen part, though. A screen would be good, even if you are standing and dancing, in case you can’t see very well.

  10. Keith Urban is a true talent.  He was so good to the audience.  Awesome show.  BUT, I thought the bass could have been cut back a little ~ a few of the songs sounded distorted to me and I couldn’t pick up on the vocals that well.  Maybe it’s was just me.
I’d never been to the waterfront for a concert and I found it to be a great venue.  Thanks for the show!!

p.s.  to the Dr. who scheduled a hip replacement on a Sunday on a holiday weekend ~ what was he thinking?
