RANGELEY PLANTATION, Maine — A Guilford woman was injured Tuesday when her car went off Bemis Road and struck a tree, Maine State Police Trooper Joshua Birmingham said.
The accident was reported at about 10:30 a.m.
Birmingham said he does not know what caused the 2004 Toyota Corolla driven by Linda Hoar, 57, to leave a straight, flat stretch of road and hit a tree. The cause remains under investigation, he said.
He did not have a chance to ask her many questions before she was taken by a NorthStar Emergency Medical Services ambulance to meet a medical helicopter for a flight to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.
Rangeley Fire Department firefighters had to cut the roof off the car to get Hoar out because of the way the car was situated in a ditch, the door could not be opened, he said.
Evidence at the scene suggests that Hoar was not wearing a seat belt, he said. Her head hit the windshield and her chest hit the steering wheel, he said.
I probably would still have my sister if she’d have just buckled up…..
