WATERVILLE, Maine — A Waterville teenager who went to visit his 13-year-old ex-girlfriend, which he wasn’t supposed to do because of a protection order, wound up under arrest for burglary and criminal mischief on Monday night, police said.

The 17-year-old, whose name Waterville Deputy Chief Charles Rumsey could not release because he is a juvenile, had gone to a Kennebec Street residence to visit the girl around 8 p.m.

Rumsey said the teens have protection orders against each other and the boy did not have permission to go into the the home where he believed she was.

“He learned through Facebook that his ex-girlfriend would be at that location,” Rumsey said.

The boy reportedly found the door unlocked and let himself in. When a friend of the girl told the boy she wasn’t there, he became enraged, Rumsey said, allegedly punching a hole in a wall and hitting a mirror before leaving.

The boy suffered cuts on his hand, which prompted his parents to call for medical attention after he returned home. After police talked to the boy and the girl, they determined they had been texting each other, which violates the protection orders, Rumsey said.

The boy was arrested and charged with violating the protection order, burglary and criminal mischief and taken to the Mountain View Correctional Facility in Charleston, where he remained Tuesday, Rumsey said.

The girl also was arrested and charged with violating the protection order. She was released to her parents’ custody, Rumsey said.

  1. Maybe if they learn that this is serious when they are younger, the police will not have to be dealing with them when they are older. Just a thought…

  2.    17 year old male ??
    OK.
        THIRTEEN year old ex-girlfriend ?
         13 ??
    Not OK.

    Lock up the parents.

      1.  Yes, while locked up the “parents” could use some high school education.
         Maybe some parenting courses?
        Child development classes?
Morality/ethics courses in Contemporary Western Societies?
          Among others.

          1. 13 sounds more like an 8th grader and when I was in highschool he would have been harrassed to no end by his classmates for it..That is if he survived the beating the girls dad gave him….But the path we are heading down in regards of morality these days, it’s par for the course..17 , 20 , 30 what does it matter , right ??? We all know the end game…

  3. obviously by his behavior there is a good reason for the protection order!  Hope the 13 year olds parents think about taking that cell phone away from her!

  4. If he came to my house and busted up my place both of us would be in jail well maybe not he would be in the hospital and I would be in jail.

    1.  The girl didn’t enter a home uninvited, and punch a hole in a wall. If all he’d done is text her, then he’d probably be released too.

  5. what kind of parents allow a 13 year old to have a 17 year old boyfriend? Thats crazy! Sounds like someone needs more supervision. I realize that kids will sneak around, but come on she’s a little girl who should not be with older guys. Hopefully she will learn from this and choose better boyfriends in the future. As far as he goes, well he’ll be 18 soon and needs to change his game plan before he ends up in prison

  6. It’s amazing how many people of all ages lack basic conflict resolution skills, and use the police to handle breaksups and other conflicts for them.
