PALMYRA, Maine — A Skowhegan man was injured after an early Sunday morning crash along U.S. Route 2.
Somerset County Sheriff’s Department deputy Joseph Jackson responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash at about 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, Detective Lt. Carl E. Gottardi II said in a statement.
A white 2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo driven by Derek Cronkite, 21, of Skowhegan, was traveling west along Main Street in Palmyra when his vehicle went off the left side of the road and struck a mailbox, said Gottardi.
Gottardi said Cronkite then overcorrected and his car went off the right side of the road, struck a telephone pole guide wire, rolled over twice, and wound up on its roof in the woods.
“It appears that speed and alcohol may have been factors in this accidents, which is still under investigation,” said Gottardi.
Cronkite sustained possible head injuries and abrasions to his hands and arms from the crash, said Gottardi. Cronkite was transported to Sebasticook Valley Hospital.
Pittsfield police and fire departments aided Jackson at the scene.

It is so funny,so many people these days are on the hunt to get rid of smoking cigs. but i dont think I will hurt one soul driving ,smoking in my pick up truck.But when all these people are driving while drinking,HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM it could kill anyone in a second.But the state of Maine does nothing about drinking.
