VAN BUREN and GLENBURN – Roger N. Cormier, 73, passed away peacefully Dec. 3, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. He is now living his fifth day. Roger was born Jan. 29, 1939, in Keegan, son of the late Wilfred and Aline (Dumond) Cormier.
Roger graduated from Van Buren Boys High School in 1958. He was an entrepreneur at heart, always dreaming about the next business adventure. With his continuous optimism, he supported many others including starting a business with his son and letting him take over. Roger owned several successful businesses in Northern Maine and most recently Roger’s Plumbing & Heating, Glenburn. Roger was also involved in local politics becoming chair of Van Buren Town Council and a third degree knight of the Knights of Columbus. He loved spending time with his family and enjoying his hobbies such as horseback riding with his daughter, fishing with the grandkids, riding his Harley with Lisa, gardening and traveling. He was a communicant of St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Bangor. Roger was well known for his practical jokes, helping those in need, and his ability to strike up a conversation with anyone. His heart of gold will be sadly missed.
He is survived by his loving soul mate of more than 18 years, Lisa (Desjardins) Michaud and daughter, Holly Michaud, whom he considered as his own; son, Paul Cormier and wife, Denise (Madore) Cormier, and their daughters, Rachel and Jennifer; daughter, Susan (Cormier) St. Peter and husband, Denis, and their sons, Justin and Tyler; sister, Joan Nauss and husband, William; brother, Claude Cormier and wife, Marlene; many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his parents; along with a sister, Marcie Greenwood; and a grand angel that never made it to his arms until the day God called him home. Special thanks to Dr. Peter Levasseur, Dr. Robert Bach, and the medical team at Boyd Dialysis Center for their compassion and excellent care.
