EXETER, Maine — Three local teens are facing felony charges for their roles in a string of burglaries and car break-ins in the area, Chief Deputy Troy Morton of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday.
Tyler Campbell, 19, of Corinth; Tyler Dean, 18, of Carmel; and a 17-year-old male from Somerset County all were arrested and charged Sunday after several weeks of detective work in partnership with Maine State Police, the deputy chief said.
All three teens face charges of Class B receiving stolen property, Morton said.
Campbell also was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and for violating a protection, and the 17-year-old, who police did not identify because he is a juvenile, was charged with violating his probation, the deputy chief said.
“As a result of the investigation several items, including firearms and electronics were recovered,” Morton said in a press release. “Some of the items of which had been hidden in a wooded area.”
Details about the weapons and other stolen items are being withheld because the investigation is ongoing, he said.
“The charges are expected to be upgraded, when presented to the Penobscot County grand jury,” Morton said in the statement.
All three teens remained incarcerated Tuesday night, he said.
Dean and Campbell are at the Penobscot County Jail in Bangor and the juvenile was taken to the Mountain View Youth Development Center in Charleston.
Campbell was convicted and sentenced earlier this year for six crimes — assault, criminal threatening, theft by receiving stolen property, violating his conditions of release, criminal mischief and negotiating a worthless instrument, according to court listing printed in the Bangor Daily News.
He was sentenced in Newport District Court in May to pay a $100 fine and $150 in restitution for the negotiating worthless instrument conviction, and was sentenced in June for the other five crimes. Campbell was given 14 days in jail each for the assault, criminal threatening and receiving stolen property convictions, and 48 hours behind bars for both the criminal mischief and violating his bail conditions. He also was ordered to pay $600 in restitution, the BDN listings state.

Daily News” What in the world is he doing out of jail? Oh I forgot very lenient judges. Keep up the good work judge!
They let him out of jail so he could pay off his fines. I’m sure after he sold all the stolen goods he would have done the right thing and paid them off.
“Campbell also was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon”… He has an early start on his career!
Dust off the chair.
Get it over with and save everybody lots of grief.
That’s a whole mess of stupid right there.
This is what happens when the court system hands downs light weight punishments. Six crimes last time? Do the Judges need more work? Is this how they get job security? How about this time keeping this guy in jail for a longtime.
Tyler Campbell also goes by the name Tyler Stevens. Personally having met the kid I know he belongs in jail.
Too bad a homeowner hadn’t woken up, grabbed a 45 and shot all three of the little rats. That way it would ensure that they didn’t prey on anyone else, since the legal system does not seem to want to stop them.
The way this is going, honest people are going to have to take steps to protect themselves from “predators”.
put the judge in jail 2
I was one of the victims in these burglaries. Not only did they steal my personal belongings and trash my garage and vehicles, but they stole my families sense of security. I hope the Judge takes into consideration the emotional damage done to the victims as well as the financial loss before letting these goons out.
