LEVANT – Stephen H. “Squeak” Watson, 85, beloved husband of 62 years of Rachel “Terry” A. (Terrill) Watson, died Dec. 17, 2012, at his home with his family at his side. He was born Sept. 20, 1927, in Levant, the son of Henry and Ada (Young) Watson.
Stephen or “Squeak,” as he was known, was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He worked as a coin teller for Merchants Bank, Bangor, for more than 30 years. Squeak enjoyed country music, especially bluegrass festivals. Tinkering on engines and rebuilding VW Beetles was a favorite pastime. He appreciated nature as he walked the fields, fished the streams, gardened and fed the birds. Family pets were his dear friends. Above all, he was a loving family man with helping hands and open arms. He will be dearly missed and loved forever.
Surviving are his four children, Darlene Lambert of Levant, Donna Walp and Diane Watson, both of Hermon, and Stephen Watson and his companion, Brad Blake, of Cape Elizabeth; three grandchildren, Steve Joy of Hampden, Kathy Henry of Winthrop and Eliza Walp of Vermont; and three great-grandchildren, Nicholas Dunn, U.S. Navy, Japan, Darren Morris of Winthrop and Megan Joy of Windham. He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Francis Watson; and a sister, Elaine Averill.
