LINCOLN – Byron E. “B.O.” Oliver, 83, passed away peacefully, May 24, 2013, at a Lincoln hospital, after a long, courageous battle with COPD and leukemia. He was born Feb. 9, 1929, in Lincoln, son of Villa and Bennie Oliver.
Byron graduated from Mattanawcook Academy in 1946. He was a pillar of the community and a well-known icon in the retail business and one of the original owners of Lincoln Color Center. He later operated a franchise of Kitchen Tune Up and then went on to have his own business, The Used Furniture Shop. Byron loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, spending time with family at his camp on Egg Pond and sports. He was a Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan.
He is survived by three sons, Clarke Oliver, Kenneth Oliver and Kyle Oliver and wife, Melanie, all of Lincoln; daughter, Lisa Leonard and husband, Matt, of Lincoln; two brothers, Edward Dysart of New Hampshire and Philip Oliver of Lincoln; nine grandchildren, Amy Washburn of Lee, Shaun Washburn of Lincoln, Kyleigh, Branden, Andrew and Tenley Oliver of Lincoln, Josh Oliver, Jesse Oliver of Hampden and Jen (Oliver) LaPlante of Lincoln; seven great-grandchildren, Chelsie and Arianna Chandonait of Lee, Tyler Washburn of Florida, Tyra Washburn of Lincoln, Jayden Oliver and Aubrey and Avery Oliver; and several nieces and nephews. Byron was predeceased by his parents, Bennie Oliver and Villa and Emmett Karls; wife, Elfriede Oliver; brother, Donald Oliver; sister, Cheryl Lancaster; and great-grandson, Nicholas Chandonait. “Grampa Little One” will be greatly missed.
At his request, the family welcomes guests for a celebration of life reception 3 p.m. Sunday, June 16, at Lincoln Snowhounds Snowmobile Club.
