BANGOR – Col. Linwood “Mickey” K. Feeney, devoted husband, father, brother and friend, died June 9, 2013, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Dec. 19, 1930, in Belfast, son of Howard K. and Christine C. (Trenholm) Feeney.
His family later settled in Bangor where he finished school at Bangor High. There he met the love of his life, Patricia A. Farnsworth. They wed Aug. 18, 1951, and began raising their family. Mickey’s main career in life was his military service in the Army Guard, he attended many military schools, which allowed them to experience several different parts of the U.S., such as, Texas, Virginia and Kansas. He served as the commander of the 262nd Engineer Battalion in Bangor and finished his military career in Augusta at Camp Keyes, retiring in December 1990. During that time, Mickey was bestowed with many military honors, too numerous to list. He was a highly respected military officer. He and Pat then enjoyed some traveling adventures. Their trip to Iceland together was one that was very special to both of them. They spent several winters in Destin, Fla., where they enjoyed many great times with special friends. Mickey especially loved his time spent with Pat and family at the cottage on Pushaw. He was a proud member of Pushaw Royal Yacht Club, where he was famous for his special “Ice House Hot Dogs.” The fourth of July brought many friends and family to visit Mickey for his barbecue bologna, also known as “Pushaw Lobster.” He was happiest when people were around. He will be missed by so many special friends. He will rest in peace now and once again be with his beloved wife, Patty.
He was predeceased by his wife, Pat; mother and father. Surviving are his four children, Karen Feeney and Cheryl Paulson of Hermon, Chris and wife, Connie Feeney, of South Haven, Miss., Scott Feeney of Bangor, and Laurel Feeney and partner, Lance Sanborn, of Brewer; two special grandchildren, Kaitlen and Christopher Puckett of Brewer; sister, Jerrie Parsons of Bangor; brother, Kern Feeney and wife, Marion, of Brewer; sister-in-law, Lois Farnsworth of Florida; many nieces and nephews.
The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments in celebration of his life 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, June 15, at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor.
