NEWPORT – Elery W. Pomeroy, 66, died Oct. 11, 2013, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Feb. 16, 1947, in Waterville, a son of Clarence and Beverly (Gerry) Pomeroy.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Elery was an avid motorcycle rider in his younger days. He had been employed at San Antonio Shoe in Pittsfield.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy (Cookson) Pomeroy; two sons, Andrew and wife, Carol Pomeroy, all of Newport, and Wayne Pomeroy of Detroit; a daughter, Gina Marie and husband, Ralph “Camper” Phillips, of Pittsfield; a brother, Mike and wife, Linda Pomeroy, of North Carolina; a sister, Cathy and husband, Herb Williams, of Augusta; six grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18, at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main St., Newport, with Pastor Jacky Willhoite officiating.
