HERMON – Colby R. Tapley, 77, died, with his family by his side, Oct. 15, 2013, at a local hospital. He was born March 7, 1936, in Hermon, the son of Ray and Inez (Leonard) Tapley.
Colby graduated from Hermon High School, class of 1954. He was a brick layer, stone mason and carpenter. Colby was a founding member of the Hermon Skeet Club, and he enjoyed baseball, golf, fishing, snowmobiling, and gardening. He liked to take trips to Camden, Las Vegas, Alabama and Florida. Colby was a past deacon at the Faith Baptist Church in Millinocket. He was a kind loving husband, father and grandfather.
Colby is survived by his wife, Gloria G. (Overlock) Tapley; son, Randy Tapley his wife, Debbie, and their son, Adam, of Port Orange, Fla.; daughter, Rhonda Tapley of Harrison and her daughter, Audrey Higgins of Bangor; stepchildren, TJ Warner, Heidi Johnson and her husband, Thomas, Sherrie Pedersen and her husband, Dana, Ricky Hawes and his wife, Cindy, and Alan Hawes and his wife, Sue; stepgrandchildren, Travis Hawes and his wife, Dianna, and their son, Logan, Misty Hawes, Tommy Pedersen and fiancée, Amaris Goudreau, Alex Pedersen, Olivia Johnson, and Nicolas Johnson; loving sister, Dottie Crouse and her husband, Carl, of Las Vegas; sisters-in-law, Jackie Tapley, Jackie Overlock and her husband, Clifford, Glo Byers, Joan Jewett, and Jeannie Jewett; brothers-in-law, Larry Jewett and his wife, Judy, and Laughton Jewett and his wife, Cindy; many nieces and nephews; best friend, Irwin Bacon and his wife, Maureen; and many close friends. In addition to his parents, Colby was predeceased by his first wife, Donalene (Jewett) Tapley; daughter, Raejean Tapley; sister, Gertrude Robinson; brothers, Robert Tapley and Lesley Tapley.
Per Colby’s wish, a graveside service will be held at a later date.
