MANCHESTER – Charles “Chuck” Anthony Calligan, resident of Manchester, passed away Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta. Chuck was born on Nov. 6, 1953, in Calais, the son of Charles F. and Marion (Brown) Calligan.
He graduated from Woodland High School, Baileyville, in 1971 and went on to attend the University of Maine at Machias where he played basketball and baseball for the Clippers. It was at UMM that he discovered the two great loves of his life: his to-be wife, Debra “Debbie” Nason and accounting. These years were filled with love, friendship, laughter, and hard work. He graduated in 1975 with a B.S. in Accounting and on May 1st of the following year, he and Debbie married.
Chuck was predeceased by his father, Charles Fredrick Calligan. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Debbie; his children, Charlie C. Calligan and Erin Mooney and her husband, Aaron Mooney; his mother, Marion Staples; his brother, Bernard and his wife, Deborah; his niece, Katy Roberts; and nephew, Kurt Calligan, and their families.
A celebration of life and reception will be held 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, at the Augusta Country Club, 19 Hammonds Grove, Manchester. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Marlee Fund, P.O. Box 599, Manchester, ME 04531; or to The Children’s Discovery Museum, 171 Capital St., Suite 2, Augusta, ME 04330.
