HOULTON and FORT FAIRFIELD – Thelene M. Sawyer, 68, passed away Sunday evening, Dec. 8, 2013, at a Houlton nursing facility, after an extended illness. She was born Aug. 11, 1945, in South Tilley, New Brunswick, Canada, the daughter of Edmond and Lina (Grenier) Levesque.
She attended South Tilley Schools and worked for Pond Farms, Fort Fairfield for a number of years. She had been a resident of the Houlton area for several years.
In addition to her parents, Thelene was predeceased by two sons, Leroy A. Sawyer on Feb. 24, 1990, and Larry A. Sawyer on April 29, 2013; one brother, Leo Levesque; and one sister, Bertha Millard. She is survived by one daughter, Lori A. Stillings of San Antonio; one brother, Roland Levesque of South Tilley, NB; and seven sisters, Noella St. Peter of Lerwick, NB, Rose St. Peter of Lake Edward, NB, Rena Watson of Morrell Siding, NB, Adelina Sargfield of Woodstock, NB, Diane Tupper of Upper Kintore, NB, Rita Hachey of Grand Falls, NB, and Doris Michaud of Lerwick, NB. She also leaves behind her former husband and friend, Albert “Pomp” Sawyer and his wife, Janet, of Easton; and five grandchildren, Justin Sawyer of Sidney, Bradley Stillings of San Antonio, Jenessa, Autumn and Livia Sawyer, all of Fort Fairfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted in the Spring of 2014 at Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield, at a date and time to be announced in a future edition of the Bangor Daily News.
