WATERVILLE, Maine — A local man was injured after his motorcycle collided with a sedan Monday morning, according to police.

Larry Brown, 46, was traveling on Western Avenue when he struck a sedan operated by Timothy Attaya, 74, also of Waterville, according to Waterville police Sgt. Dan Goss.

Attaya apparently did not see Brown’s motorcycle as he went to turn onto Pleasant Street, according to Goss, and Brown struck the vehicle on the front passenger side.

The impact sent Brown, who was not wearing a helmet, off his bike, according to Goss. He landed on the pavement.

Brown suffered chest injuries and head trauma and was taken to Thayer Hospital in Waterville, while Attaya was shaken up but not injured, the sergeant said.

The intersection at Western Avenue and Pleasant Street was closed to traffic for about a half-hour while crews worked at the scene, Goss said. Charges are not expected to be filed.
