Founder’s Day
BANGOR — This Friday, November 21 marks Founder’s Day – when
St. Joseph Healthcare celebrated on Nov. 21 the anniversary of the founding of the Felician Sisters, who sponsored St. Joseph Hospital and St. Joseph Healthcare for several decades.
The world-wide Felician Order was established in Poland by Mother Mary Angela on Nov. 21, 1855. A group of Felician Sisters sent from the Enfield, Connecticut, province of the Felicians founded St. Joseph Hospital in Bangor in 1947.
The highlight of the day was the presentation of the Mother Mary Angela Service Awards to four individuals during a ceremony in the St. Joseph Hospital Chapel. Award recipients were Theresa Crews, Mya-Lisa King, Jessica LaBree and Pamela Sirois
The award is the highest honor bestowed on any member of the St. Joseph Healthcare community. Recipients of the awards were chosen from among scores of nominations submitted by St. Joseph Healthcare employees. The recipients were selected based on their demonstrated enthusiasm in carrying out St. Joseph Healthcare’s mission, based on its core values of service, excellence, respect and value.
