GORHAM — The University of Southern Maine Huskies baseball team and coaching staff, led by Ed Flaherty, will hold its 25th annual Winter Clinic 9 a.m.-noon on Sunday, Feb. 22, and its Advanced Clinic 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, at the Costello Sports Complex Fieldhouse. PRESQUE ISLE — The Northern Maine Board of Approved Baseball Umpires will begin its annual clinic for prospective umpires at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 24, at Northern Maine Community College in the Edmonds Conference. Successful candidates will begin umpiring sub-varsity games this spring. The class will meet for seven weeks. The cost of the clinic is $40, which includes rule books, printed materials and the exam. BREWER — Eastern Maine Baseball Umpires Association is offering instructional classes for prospective middle and high school baseball umpires to serve the schools in the Eastern Maine area. Weekly classes will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, at Brewer Community School library. Course fee is $68 and includes books and materials. BANGOR — Husson University baseball coaching staff will host a clinic 9-11 a.m. Feb. 16-18, at Sluggers Indoor Facility, 60 Acme Road. The clinic will cover all aspects of the game including hitting, throwing, fielding and pitching. BANGOR — Husson University will hold 15, one-day basketball clinics throughout the school year for boys and girls in grades 3-8. BANGOR — The Maine Athletic Club’s Mark LeClerc and retired Maine high school basketball coach Bob Cimbollek are offering a basketball consulting service for players, teams and coaches.The service will offer individual lessons to players on offensive skills and basketball shooting day camps. It also has a segment for basketball lessons that include an Accushot shooting device, a manual on shooting and a one-on-one game. OLD TOWN — The Old Town Recreation Center will hold three youth basketball tournaments in March. The Jr. Coyote Classic is open to youth travel basketball teams, which are set up for B Level teams, and will not be open to AAU caliber teams. Entry to the tournament is $200. ORONO — The Friends of UMaine Women’s Basketball group is organizing a bus trip to the Black Bears’ 1 p.m. game at New Hampshire on Sunday, March 1. The bus will leave Old Town at 7:30 a.m. and make stops in Bangor and Newport. If needed, other stops will be added. The cost of the trip is $50 per person which includes motorcoach service and a ticket to the game. SOUTHWEST HARBOR — Registration open to girls and boys junior high and high school basketball teams for the 23rd annual Great Harbor Shoot-Out basketball tournament March 20-23, at area gyms on Mount Desert Island, Trenton and Ellsworth. Last year, nearly 90 teams participated in the fundraiser for Harbor House and area youth programs. There will be four divisions for junior high and high school girls and boys teams. BREWER — The Brewer Parks & Recreation Department will offer Tee Time Tune-up golf lessons, noon-1 p.m. beginning Thursday, March 12, in the Brewer Auditorium gymnasium. The four weeks of lessons are designed for players of all levels and will include fundamentals for the beginner as well as tips for the experienced player. Instructor will be Mark Hall, PGA professional. Cost is $40 for residents and $50 for non-residents. Class size will be limited to the first 10 registered. LACROSSE

BANGOR — Bangor Parks and Recreation, along with Eastern Maine Youth Lacrosse, will offer a Youth Lacrosse program for third grade through high school students. Free clinics for first year players in grades three-eight who want to try out the sport will be held 12:15-2 p.m. Feb. 28, March 7 and 21, at Fields 4 Kids. ROAD RACING

ORONO — The Black Bear Marathon and Half Marathon will take place on June 21, on the University of Maine Campus in Orono. A Vendor Expo will be held June 20, in the University of Maine Fieldhouse. The race starts at 7:30 a.m. There is a 6-hour limit on the marathon course. There is an option to register for the early start time of 6:30 a.m. for those who feel they may need the extra hour to finish the marathon. Early start is not available for the half marathon. The half marathon course will start on campus and travel through Orono and Old Town back to the bike path on campus. The full marathon course is a double loop of the half. ROLLER DERBY

HAMPDEN — The 2015 home season opener and first doubleheader for Bangor Roller Derby will be 4 p.m. featuring Bangor vs. Aroostook Roller Derby; and at 6 p.m. Bangor vs. Les Duchesses of Roller Derby Quebec, at Skehan Recreation Center, 1 Main Road North.
