PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Presque Isle police seized a dozen mason jars filled with marijuana and related paraphernalia after a Tuesday night traffic stop, according to a post on the department’s Facebook page Wednesday afternoon.

Officer Kevin Reed working with his K9 partner, Dozer, pulled the driver over for speeding and driving erratically, Chief Matthew Irwin said in the post. A field sobriety test indicated the driver’s blood alcohol level was 0.12, according to the post.

Efforts to reach Irwin Wednesday afternoon were not immediately successful.

The driver, whose name, age and residence were not available, allegedly admitted to having marijuana in his possession but claimed to also have a medical marijuana card permitting him to do so.

However, according to Irwin’s post, not only had the card been voided, the driver was in possession of more than three-times the amount of marijuana allowed had the card been valid.

The marijuana and related items were taken by Reed, according to Irwin’s post, and the driver was charged with possession of an illegal substance.
