Pre-K and kindergarten registration
CARMEL — The Carmel Elementary School and the Suzanne M. Smith School are accepting pre-kindergarten and kindergarten registration for the 2015-2016 school year. To register, call the Carmel Elementary School at 848-3383 or the Suzanne M. Smith School at 884-7444 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Kindergarten is for children 5 years old on or before Oct. 15.
The pre-kindergarten program, a half-day program, is for children 4 years old on or before Oct. 15.
Parents must bring an original birth certificate, immunization records and any legal documents to be photocopied. Enrollment will be limited.

Maine Trivia Tournament
BANGOR — For the second year in a row, Eastern Maine Community College will hold its Maine Trivia Tournament, a community event and fundraiser for the college’s foundation. It will take place 5-9 p.m. Friday, March 13, in the college’s Johnston Gymnasium.
The tournament will include 12 rounds of increasingly difficult trivia questions covering sports, entertainment, politics, science and the state of Maine. The winning team will walk away with $500 cash.
Registration for one team of 3-5 players is $150. Teams can sign up emcc.edu/trivia .
The event is open for public attendance, by donation only, for those interested in watching the tournament and supporting friends, family or co-workers who are competing.
There will be free food catered by EMCC and a cash bar.
Proceeds from the Maine Trivia Tournament will benefit the EMCC Foundation, which promotes, encourages and supports, financial or otherwise, all educational activities at Eastern Maine Community College.
Merrimack College
HAMPDEN — Alicia Fortier of Hampden was named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Merrimack College in North Andover, Massachusetts.
University of Maine Augusta
AUGUSTA — Last week during their winter break, a group of UMA students traveled to New Orleans to volunteer their time cleaning up outdoor areas, clearing trails, planting trees, processing donated materials and spending time with residents. This is the seventh consecutive year that UMA has organized a service trip to New Orleans so that students can work with organizations such as Common Ground Relief, American Cancer Society-New Orleans Hope Lodge, Audubon Nature Center, St. Bernard Wetlands Foundation and The Green Project.
