CHAPMAN, Maine — Snow and slush on the road is being blamed in a single-vehicle accident that sent a Chapman man to the hospital Tuesday morning, according to state police.
Dillon Hadfield, 21, was traveling east about 11 a.m. on Chapman Road in his 2003 GMC pickup when he hit a patch of snow and slush on the road and lost traction, according to Sgt. Brian Harris of the Maine State Police.
The truck left the roadway and rolled over twice, coming to rest on its roof, Harris said.
Hadfield, who was not wearing his seat belt, was able to crawl out of the truck’s passenger side window.
He was taken to the Aroostook Medical Center in Presque Isle for treatment of his injuries, Harris said. Hadfield was later released, he added.
The Presque Isle Fire Department also was at the accident because of fuel leaking from the truck.
