READING, Pennsylvania — Justin Haley put together his best outing of the season, tossing six scoreless innings as the Portland Sea Dogs beat the Reading Fightin Phils 3-0 Friday night in Double-A baseball action at First Energy Stadium.

Portland snapped a four-game losing streak and earned its second shutout of the season.

Haley (2-8) scattered five hits on two walks and one strikeout, picking up his first scoreless appearance of the season. The righty earned his first win since May 17.

Portland’s bullpen continued to be strong, closing out the game with solid outings from John Cornely (hold), Robby Scott (hold) and Jorge Marban (save). Scott relieved Cornely in the eighth and worked out of a bases-loaded jam by retiring Cameron Perkins and Art Charles. Marban notched his third save of the season.

David Chester got Portland on the board, leading off the second inning with a solo homer off losing pitcher Mark Leiter Jr. (0-1). The homer was the fifth for Chester.

Leiter Jr. took the loss in his Double-A debut, giving up three runs on eight hits in seven innings.

Portland added a run in the third on a run-scoring groundout by Jantzen Witte and the final run in the seventh on a single by Aneury Tavarez.
