MOUNT DESERT ISLAND, Maine — More than 2,000 Emera Maine customers woke up Tuesday without electricity because of the thunderstorms overnight.

According to a statement from Emera Maine, storms knocked out power to approximately 2,133 customers in Hancock, Penobscot and Washington counties, with the bulk of the outages occurring on Mount Desert Island.

A high number of customers had their power restored by 11 a.m. Tuesday, as 76 customers remained without power.
