PORTLAND, Maine — The School Board unanimously appointed an interim principal at King Middle School.
Kathleen Bouchard will return to the school for one year following the Aug. 18 decision. Bouchard, a former assistant principal at King, replaces Mike McCarthy, who retired after nearly 30 years.
Bouchard began working for the Portland Public Schools in 1973 as an art teacher. Her career included stops as assistant principal at Portland High School and Lyman Moore Middle School. She was also the principal at the now-closed Jack Elementary School when it was temporarily moved downtown while the East End Community School was being built.
The School Board also unanimously appointed Caroline Roberge as an assistant principal at Deering High School.
