BRISTOL, Maine — A driver drove his or her vehicle into the entryway of the Bristol town office early Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 6, according to Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office personnel.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy Kevin Dennison said the vehicle was traveling south on Route 130 when the driver swerved to avoid oncoming traffic and struck the town office.
Dennison said the accident is under investigation. No further details are available at this time.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Bristol Fire and Rescue and the Central Lincoln County Ambulance Service.
This is the second time the Bristol town office has been hit by a vehicle this year. In May, a woman struck the front corner of the town hall and a nearby veterans monument.
Bristol Town Administrator Kris Poland said the town office will be closed the rest of Tuesday, Oct. 6 as well as Wednesday, Oct. 7. The Bristol Board of Selectmen will still have its regular meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Those planning on attending should use the door on the side of the building.
