NORWAY, Maine — A head-on collision on Route 117 on Tuesday morning injured a man and two women, according to police.

Cynthia Ayala, 67, of Brownfield was heading west around 7:30 a.m. when she apparently crossed the centerline and collided with an eastbound vehicle driven by Alison Stimson, 38, of West Paris, said Norway Police Officer Brandon Correia.

Ayala was carrying one passenger, James Rollins, 33, of Norway, the officer said.

Stimson attempted to swerve to avoid the collision was not successful, Correia said. The impact forced Ayala’s vehicle to roll over.

The occupants of both vehicles were wearing seat belts, which Correia said likely prevented serious injuries.

All three occupants were taken to Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway. None of the injuries were considered life-threatening.

The crash closed the road for about an hour and a half.
