NAPLES, Maine — A Naples man was seriously injured in a crash at the Naples Shopping Center.
Keegan Eldridge, 25, was on Route 302 around 1:40 a.m. Monday when his vehicle went off the road, into a ditch and hit an embankment for the entrance to the shopping center, according to officials at the Cumberland County sheriff’s office. The car then became airborne. When the vehicle landed, it hit a large signpost, causing the car to spin around.
Eldridge was the only person in the vehicle. He was unconscious when rescue crews arrived.
Deputies said Eldridge first was taken to Bridgton Hospital with a serious head injury, then he was taken by LifeFlight to Central Maine Medical Center.
Investigators said it appears speed was a factor in the crash, and Eldridge was not wearing his seat belt.
The investigation is ongoing.
