DEXTER, Maine — A local man was arrested Tuesday night after allegedly assaulting a relative, according to the town’s police chief.

Mark Page Jr., 23, turned himself in around 9:45 p.m. Tuesday after police had been searching for him throughout the day, according to Dexter police Chief Kevin Wintle.

The assault was reported around 1 p.m., according to Wintle, when an argument between Page and a family member escalated to the point where he allegedly kicked the woman in the stomach.

The woman did not require medical attention while Page was not at the scene when police arrived.

He wound up turning himself in and was booked on a charge of domestic violence assault. Page also is on probation for a prior drug trafficking charge, Wintle said, and a probation hold was placed on him.

Page remained at the Penobscot County Jail on Wednesday. Somerset County Sheriff’s Deputies assisted Dexter police in the search for him.
