ORONO, Maine — Police are on the lookout for a man suspected of stealing goods from Bell’s Orono IGA on Thursday.

The incident occurred shortly before 5 p.m., according to Old Town police Sgt. Keith Emery. He said Old Town police were sent to the Orono grocery store to assist Orono police, who were busy at another call at the time.

The case was handed back to Orono officers Thursday night, Emery said.

Emery posted a surveillance image of the suspect on their Facebook page early Thursday evening.

“Does anybody recognize this person or clothing? He was involved with a theft at the IGA in Orono, which we initially covered while they were busy,” the post said.

“Before we got there, he left out the front, went around the back, through a field and through the woods over a fence and back onto the interstate,” it continued.

“I tracked him the whole way, but could not locate him as he had too much of a lead. If anybody thinks they know who this, is please message our inbox. Thank you.”

Emery said that an arrest had yet to be made as of 9 p.m. Thursday.
