SANFORD, Maine — A Facebook post showing a surveillance system image of a suspect in a laundromat burglary resulted in an arrest Thursday for Sanford police.
Jeremiah Rivard, 20, of Sanford was arrested and charged with Class C felony burglary, Detective Eric Small said Thursday in a news release.
The burglary was on Wednesday morning at Pleasant Street Suds Laundromat at 53 Pleasant St., Small said.
When Officer Christopher Brown went to the laundromat to investigate, he learned that a man had allegedly broken into the laundry machines and left with an undisclosed amount of money.
On Thursday, someone saw a Facebook post with the surveillance system image, recognized the person shown in it and contacted police, according to Small.
Rivard was taken to York County Jail, where he was being held Thursday evening on $500 cash bail.
Small said that Rivard is scheduled to appear at Springvale District Court on Friday.
